You're invited on a voyage of discovery this summer with a variety of books, movies, and programs available here at your library! For summer, our book discussion groups are exploring books that take us to far-off destinations – and Kathryn Anne Porter’s Ship of Fools certainly does that! In the lull between World Wars, passengers on a cruise ship make friends, enemies, and connections with each other during the long journey. Their experiences are each different, yet they only underscore how similar we all are. Music and Marimbas from Around the World Wednesday, June 15, 11 am - 12 pm
Join us for the official kickoff of our Summer Reading celebration with this toe-tapping musical program! All marimbas and xylophones are made from one material, wood. Yet each country we visit during Marimbamania! tells its own unique story of the marimba and its importance to their culture. This interactive program will include music from Mexico, Guatemala, West Africa, Germany, America and Japan. All ages welcome; feel free to drop in! |

No experience necessary! Jim and Donna Berg will have you smiling and “jittering” in no time as they lead participants through the fundamentals of East Coast Swing – better known as the Jitterbug. You’ll learn Basic Step, Open Position, Closed Position, Send Out, Inside and Outside Turns, and more. Registration is required as there is limited space available. Come with a partner or by yourself; there is a fee of $5 per person or $10 per couple. Payment must be received to reserve your spot. |

Discussing The Elegance of the Hedgehog Wednesday, July 13, 6:45 - 8 pm
This novel is a beloved bestseller in France, and its English translation is no less charming. Twelve-year-old Paloma and fifty-four-year-old Renee might not seem to have much in common other than living in the same building, but the addition of a new resident to their home will bring both of these intelligent ladies together - improving all three lives immensely.
